Community Rules
Devchaos works because people trust each other enough to build together. These rules protect that trust.
They apply to everything on Devchaos — projects, polls, comments, profiles, applications and messages — and sit alongside the Terms of Use and GGDB's own community guidelines. Moderators may act on anything that goes against their spirit, not just their letter.
Be respectful
Critique the work, not the person. Disagreements about design, engines or business models are welcome; insults, harassment, hate speech, threats and discrimination of any kind are not. If someone asks you to stop contacting them, stop.
Keep it honest
Post projects you are actually working on and describe where they really stand. Don't claim work, credits or team members that aren't yours, and don't misrepresent your experience in an application. Give credit to the people you build with.
Be clear about compensation
State the model up front: paid, revenue share or volunteer. Don't advertise a paid role and switch to unpaid once someone applies, and don't describe unpaid work as “exposure” or a “portfolio opportunity” as if it were pay. Revenue-share agreements are between you and your collaborators — put them in writing before the work starts.
Respect other people's work
Only post assets, code, music and writing you have the rights to. No leaked builds, ripped assets or content that infringes someone's copyright or trademark. When a collaboration ends, respect whatever agreement you made about who owns what.
No spam
One post per project — update it instead of reposting. Don't post unrelated advertising, referral schemes, affiliate links or mass-copied applications. Polls should be genuine questions, not promotion in disguise.
Keep it safe for work
Devchaos is used at work and at school. No sexually explicit content, graphic violence or shock material. Mature themes in a game are fine — say so in the description and keep the imagery in the post itself appropriate for a general audience.
Protect privacy
Don't publish anyone's personal information — real names they haven't shared, addresses, phone numbers, private messages or documents. Don't ask applicants for identity documents, bank details or payments. Devchaos never requires payment to join a project.
Be a good teammate
Reply to applications, even to say no. If you invite someone, be ready to work with them. If you have to leave a project, tell the owner rather than disappearing. Owners: remove people fairly and explain why.
Don't break the platform
No attempts to bypass rate limits, vote with multiple accounts, scrape user data, exploit bugs or impersonate other people or the Devchaos and GGDB teams. If you find a security issue, report it privately through the contact page.
Reporting and enforcement
Use the Report action on any post or comment; reports are reviewed by moderators and are confidential. Depending on severity we may remove content, issue a warning, suspend an account temporarily or ban it permanently. Serious cases — threats, fraud, illegal content — can be banned on first offence. If you think a decision was wrong, contact us and we will take a second look.
